The Samsung 50E2 is the second-generation evolution of the popular 50E, offering refined performance and improved
consistency for modern 21700-based power systems. With a nominal capacity of 5000mAh and a
continuous discharge rating of 9.8A, it provides excellent runtime and stable voltage output, making it ideal
for e-bikes, power banks, energy storage systems, and portable lighting where capacity and efficiency are key.
High energy density and low impedance
Samsung’s INR21700-50E2 offers one of the highest energy densities available in a cylindrical Li-ion format, maintaining
efficiency across a wide discharge range. Its internal resistance is optimised for reduced voltage sag and heat generation
under load, ensuring smooth performance in both single-cell and multi-parallel configurations.
The 50E2’s balanced chemistry provides a safe, stable and efficient energy delivery profile, suitable for long-duration
applications where runtime and reliability are critical. It represents a direct improvement over the original 50E, with
enhanced voltage stability and improved consistency across batches.
Performance and charge characteristics
Standard charging is 2.45A (0.5C) to 4.20V with a 100mA cut-off, and the maximum recommended charge current
is 4.9A (1C). The discharge cut-off voltage is 2.5V, and the nominal voltage is 3.63V.
Samsung specify a nominal impedance of approximately 24mΩ (AC, 1kHz, 25°C). The cell maintains excellent
thermal characteristics under continuous discharge and is rated for operation between −20°C and +60°C.
When used within specification, the 50E2 provides more than 500 charge cycles with over 80% capacity retention.
Its long-term stability and high efficiency make it a top choice for demanding commercial and enthusiast applications.
